- This AMICUS disk has subdirectories named AMICUS and FFCatalog. They
- contain indexes to the files in these public domain disk collections.
-
- To access them, use the DiskCat program. Double-click the DiskCat
- icon from Workbench. (If you want to run this program from the CLI,
- be sure to increase the stack size with the STACK command: "stack 15000").
-
- On the first menu on the left, DiskCat has a menu item called "Append
- Catalog File". Select it. A file requester will appear. You must
- explicitly enter the full name of the desired catalog file. Erase the
- filename that appears in the requester by clicking in the requester, and
- using the backspace and DEL keys. Now enter the full catalog file name
- here, and press RETURN.
-
- If you would like to see the names of the available catalogs, open the
- catalog drawer on this disk.
-
- For example, if you would like to load the catalog named
- "Fish21to30.ByDisk", then enter:
-
- :FFCatalog/Fish21to30.ByDisk
-
-
- There are two kinds of catalogs available, sorted by filename, and sorted
- by disk number. Using the sort commands in DiskCat, you can create both
- types of lists, as well as others. Using the 'append' command, you can
- create catalogs that encompass an entire public domain collection,
- depending on the amount of memory you have on your Amiga.
-
- To copy the catalog files to another disk, copy the entire drawer from
- the Workbench, or use the CLI 'copy' command. Each catalog is stored
- in two files, name.dsk and name.cat.
