This AMICUS disk has subdirectories named AMICUS and FFCatalog. They
contain indexes to the files in these public domain disk collections.
To access them, use the DiskCat program. Double-click the DiskCat
icon from Workbench. (If you want to run this program from the CLI,
be sure to increase the stack size with the STACK command: "stack 15000").
On the first menu on the left, DiskCat has a menu item called "Append
Catalog File". Select it. A file requester will appear. You must
explicitly enter the full name of the desired catalog file. Erase the
filename that appears in the requester by clicking in the requester, and
using the backspace and DEL keys. Now enter the full catalog file name
here, and press RETURN.
If you would like to see the names of the available catalogs, open the
catalog drawer on this disk.
For example, if you would like to load the catalog named
"Fish21to30.ByDisk", then enter:
:FFCatalog/Fish21to30.ByDisk
There are two kinds of catalogs available, sorted by filename, and sorted
by disk number. Using the sort commands in DiskCat, you can create both
types of lists, as well as others. Using the 'append' command, you can
create catalogs that encompass an entire public domain collection,
depending on the amount of memory you have on your Amiga.
To copy the catalog files to another disk, copy the entire drawer from
the Workbench, or use the CLI 'copy' command. Each catalog is stored
in two files, name.dsk and name.cat.
